Hiya, hopefully I'm back

Post  dappers on Sun Oct 25, 2009 3:38 pm

hello folks

Dare say most of you cant remember me or are new since my last posting.
Sorry about the delay, but as I said to Chris, just set up a new business and it's going well (too well). Dont have any time to go fishing or even check the forum out much.

Anyway went to Scotland on hols and managed to stuff my fishing kit in. (missus?/fishing kit?/missus?/fishing kit?, I didn't know which one to take. Compromised and told her if she lost 2 stone I'd leave a couple of spinners out)
Laughing Mad

Absolutely fantastic up there, right on the NW coast of Ardnamurchan (most westerly point of mainland UK)
I fished Kilchoan ferry jetty and Salen jetty.
It was mainly too weedy and rough ground (and I mean ROUGH) and the brilliant beaches were too shallow to do any standard beach casting so I resorted to spinning off jettys.
1st go, caught 5 pollack and 2 maccies all to about a pound. Took 2 maccies home for tea.
2nd go, much the same
3rd go, 12 maccies and 20 pollack
Only ever fished a max of 2 hours, so you can see it was a bit prolific !!!!! cheers cheers

I've still got a few days off, so hopefully I'll be going to N Norfolk and let you know how I got on.

Some pics of why everybody should fish up there

PS. Moscow. Nice to meet your distant relatives while I was up there. (yep, it really was that close)

THE SINGING SANDS (only one and a half hours walk from nearest road !!!!!!)

SANNA SANDS (only a 2min walk from road, but very shallow)

Hopefully speak to you all soon with another report

cheers dappers

Glad you're back dappers welcome
Brilliant piccies as usual m8, especially the pine martin (?)

Glad you managed to tighten the line and bend the rod after that trip, great result ..... almost as good as getting away with telling your wife to shed weight!

'hope we can look forward to more great photos soon.
(P.S. is the new business photography?)

Best
Steve

Its definately fishy heaven up there. Not fished off Ardnamurchan but done all round Arisaig and Mallaig, Mull and Oban and never blanked. If you don,t catch pollack or macky with spoons or plugs you,ll catch pollack or pink cod with freelined or floatfished limpets in the kelp beds.
And no F*****G doggies to harass you. Laughing Mad

Thanks for the replies lads.

Unfortunately, did get to N Norfolk for a couple of days, but apart from it being nice mild weather (with a load of weed and high surf) Nothing to report I'm afraid.

Yes Moscow, it is photography (Events) and yes it's a pine marten.

Hope to meet up with you all again in the near future

Reference your photos

I love your photos it's just the sort of place I love I try to get up there on the West Coast of Scotland at least once a year usually in the schools six weeks holiday I have found a nice campsite / caravan site on lock Shiel where you can kayak straight onto the lock from your caravan very affordable last year 2010 about £7.00 a night limited facilities though
but a lovely location if anybody's interested I can give you details it's at Langal Argyll Highlands PH36 4JX
and you're not far from the sea for sea fishing or kayaking

PS
if anybody's interested I am planning on being up there for the schools six weeks holiday this year with my fishing gear fish and kayak yeehaa and it would be nice to arrange some fishing if anybody's interested
