Clive

The letter of the Law is that you shouldn't even enter onto the Lower Promenade, in fact there are signs saying "Authorised Vehicles only"

That said, everyone does it.

When we were fishing there on Sunday, the Coastguard came past us about 6 times, and various Police vehicles in both directions several times. I've never heard of anyone being booked, or even spoken to by the authorities.
I think provided you drive with due respect for the walkers and cyclists, and look as though you're fishing, the authorities turn a blind eye.

What I wouldn't do is park my car and go for a walk i.e. bait digging because at least if you're with your car they might only ask you to move on. If you're not there, I'm sure they'd book you.

Try it .... especially on a late evening tide!

Best
Steve

Yes we still do the wall often, but forget driving down there for now Martin (see other posts on the Gynn Wall or Lower Walk).
Late at night you might get a visit from the police, but they've got more important things to do than book fishermen.
The Council Man/ Warden though is another matter, and he might warn you, or at worst give you a fixed penalty notice.
Best to park up one of the North Shore/Bispham/Norbreck side roads and walk down.
It only hurts coming back up the path affraid
