Cwm Hedd Fly Fishing Lakes, Wales
Full address is: Cwm Hedd Lakes/Stables, Croesheolydd Farm, Bassaleg, Newport, Gwent, NP10 8RW
If you are living in, or visiting, Wales, then you really should take the time to visit & fish at Cwm Hedd which is only 10 minutes from junction 28 of the M4.
It is a stillwater fishery with 2 lakes, 45 well maintained platforms (including 7 (8' x 6') wheelchair/disabled platforms + a wheelyboat platform) and a wading area. Ample parking with dedicated disabled parking next to lodge.
They open all year: Weds to Friday 8am - 5pm, Sat/Sunday 8am to dusk. With a warm inviting lodge serving food (only order the big all day breakfast if your appetite has been saved for a couple of days!) You can also buy or even hire tackle. If you are a novice don't worry, everyone there is happy to spend time chatting and giving advice! Tuition is available (free of charge but you must pay day ticket price) if you arrange this a few weeks in advance.
The lakes are stocked with rainbows, browns, blues and tigers. At the moment the fishery record stands at 14 and a 1/2 lbs, maybe you could break it?
You can catch n release but you must take at least 1 or 2 fish first. After you take your fish you are asked to use barbless hooks only (yippee say I). Also a minimum 6lb leader is another rule.
If you're looking for a peaceful setting, a warm friendly welcome, and some great fishing to boot.....visit Cwm Hedd!
For further info/advice phone: 01633 896854; 07980 562876. Email: gwyn@cwmhedd.co.uk
Tight lines!!
