parking on the lower wall blackpool
had a converstion this morning with the coastguard about the steel posts that have been erected as you drive on to the wall , they are soon to have signs attched which will make the lower wall a restricted parking zone so you will then be at the mercy of traffic wardens but you will be able to park via a permit from the council (which are available now)and providing you have 3rd party public liability insurance, which by the way you should have due to your car insurance not covering you to drive onto the wall ,so be warned that if there are signs up dont leave your car on the lower wall and go digging you might not have a car to come back too !!
anyone on here with any dealings with blackpool council maybe you can shed some light on this subject

(1) i spoke to planning at blackpool council they new nothing about the post going up
(2) i spoke with leasure to see if they could shed some light they told me to speek to the coast guard
(3) the coast guard said no we have no idea sorry
(4) i then phoned cil Peter Callow how told me he had heard it maybe for permit holders to stop cars going down there he will
get back to me next thursday or ill phone him
All i can say is enjoy the fishing on the wall for now but i suspect we will be banned altogeather and will not be allowed to apply for a pemit
as our vehicles are a danger to the public

THE SIGNS ARE UP !!!
The Lower Promenade between Gynn Square and Anchorsholme (next to FBAC) is now designated as a PEDESTRIAN ZONE, No vehicles permitted except "Permit Holders" and "Jubilee Route Cycles".
The guys putting the 60 (yes- sixty !!!!!) signs up didn't know where their order originated, so we're presently clueless as to who to apply to for a permit, or even if we can!
Blackpool Borough Council or Lancashire County Council are the probable culprits.
It seems to me the senseless bureaucrats are now preventing access to just about the only venue along the Fylde coast accessible for night fishing (out of car boots) and disabled anglers, in deference to "pedestrians".
I ask, who in their right mind would want to walk along this unilluminated roadway (which has few points of escape) in pitch darkness with no mobile phone reception? It's soon going to become a favourite hang-out for all the miscreants and druggies in Blackpool.
Furthermore, I have personally contributed to efforts to get people off the sands who were in danger of being trapped by incoming tides by raising the alarm verbally and contacting the Coastguard.
Let's hope the bureaucrats see the sense in issuing permits for night-fishing to sea-anglers......... before drownings, rapes, muggings become the Lower Prom "sport" in place of fishing.

parking on the prom
was out there the other day pumping for bait and the police was patroling in their van, later on several cars also drove slowly down the prom, all had lights flashing, they were not in a rush so wernt chasing anyone, it seems they were on a patrol
saw more today as well while gathering the worms they seem to still patrolling, probably checking access points for what might become illegal parking, you all know what Blackpool council are like. if they can bring in a law and issue on the spot fines to fill coffers they will
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CANT BEAT PUMPING ON THE BEACH WITH THE MISSUS
she lets me put them in the fridge then

Re: parking on the lower wall blackpool
It looks like the members of the WSF forum have exhausted the topic to death and slung the towel in.
My advice is that if you want to fish the Lower Walk in future, as it's now probably a cert that you'll get a ticket if you take your car down (they've got to recoup the money they've spent on signs!) you should park on the Prom or side streets and walk down the steps down the cliffs. Take care, as the steps are in poor condition and unilluminated, and send all Claims for injuries to Blackpool Borough Council.
Alternatively, mug an old dear for her mobility scooter, respray it and fit it out to carry all your kit from the Anchorsholme, Norbreck, Red Bank Road or Gynn Square access points.
UK-sea-fishing.org stickers are optional. Lights are not necessary and will detract from the excitement as you come face to face with cyclists in the pitch darkness.
It'll be worth seeing how many more walkers are now tempted to use this vast expanse of deserted concrete especially as the gay community consider it a "private place to go when you've met someone" .......... see this for more details: http://www.gaytoz.com/search01.asp?line=12947
