Finally found a fish
Well lately I've been struggling to find the fish, even Pout Lol.
Friday evening and the forecast was awful, heavy rain and strong winds, but undaunted I headed off to Yaverland in search of a Ray or Sole. Arrived to find the sea calm and little wind so a sole rig on one rod and a clip down with Sandeel on the other went out.
All was quiet for the next 2 hours till darkness arrived, then I started to get a few knocks but couldn't connect, though eventually I did manage to land a small strap conger of about 2lb. After That the expected wind and rain arrived and by 12.30am with no bites and conditions deteriorating fast I packed up.
On the way back though I decided to stop off locally to try a spot for a Bass. Using one rod with 6/0 pennel and half a bluey. Sat there till 2.30am but with no results so decided to have one last cigarette then leave, with that the rod hung round hard, struck and was into a good fish, with ten feet to go he threw the hook, estimate he was 6-7lb, I was not happy.
Saturday I headed off to Colwell Bay, arriving for 8pm, Flapper rig again in search of a sole and clip down with Bluey for Bass.

Again things were quiet till dark when thankfully the Pout came on the feed, I know their not everyones favourite but least they kept me busy.
I managed a couple of school Bass around the pound mark.
Sitting watching my rods, suddenly a couple of nods of the rod then a massive slack line, winding like mad to catch up with the fish. I had to take it easy as I was only using size 4 hooks but eventually a fine 6lb 10oz smoothound was landed.

I stayed on till 3.30am with a couple more pout .
