Throbshaw rocks Heysham Monday

Post  mikey on Thu May 05, 2011 9:32 pm

Hi all managed to get out and do a bit of fishing on Monday in between the decorating. Fished Throbshaw rocks at Heysham which is a lovely spot. Was hoping for a bass or two but the strong easterlies did,nt help. Landed a couple of flounder and had a few bites but no more fish caught. Sorry no pics i,m not that organised yet, if any of you are coming up this way let me know and i will endeavour to meet up with you. Smile Mike

Throbshaw rocks are accessable by parking in heysham old village, you can walk up past the church and over the barrows to the rocks or access the beach by a small slipway and walk across the beach to the rocks. Its best fished on the lower tides as you can get cut off on some of the rocks! I know which rocks are safe to fish depending on the height of the tide. you can fish off the beaches either side of the rocks and then return to the rock marks as the tide recedes. Species that can be caught Flounder, Plaice. Bass, Eel, with whiting and codling in winter. I will take photos on my next trip and post them ok. By the way did I mention the Rocks? Rolling Eyes
