new angler

hey im a new angler with just a year under my belt was hoping to pick up some hints and tips on best rigs,line and bait to use i am going to be targeting bass and smoothhound down hill head night fishing on saturday all advice welcome as i see there are a few smoothhound professionals here!!!!

hi thanks for the welcome what are you refering to by tc?? also i have been told no smoothhound about this time of year whats tyhe best species to target down hill head night fishing?

Ok New Angler, if you tell us where you go fishing we might be able to help you, Up here in the northwest ie blackpool / fleetwood area i can tell you ( along with very sound advice from others ) where the catches are happening, in the IOW ( isle of wight ) Davey is the man, etc along the board, so its location location Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Fish so far in 2010; Codling, Flounder, Plaice, Plaice/Flounder hybrid, And god knows how many LSD i'm KC reg'd, EEL, Whiting. 7LB Thornback Ray, Tope, Bass, Dabs and a lot of hope Very Happy

2011 Catch: 11LB Thornback Ray, Tope, Whiting, Dab, LSD. and that was it!

2012 Catch: to be announced Smile

hey sorry for the late reply i ended up at hill head last weekend got 2 flatties and 4 small dogfish not alot really i am fishing mainly portsmouth/southsea area but do ventur to hill head/lee on the solent and stokes bay have fished hayling a few times also but not had much action over there i hope ya can offer some good advice around these areas mainly southsea peir and the beech

Welcome to the site Jake.

Don't know about your side of the Solent but this side the better Bass are falling to large Mackeral baits on running ledger.
Next month they'll move over to squid baits.

Welcome to the site mate. thanks for choosing our site despite there be a few forums down your way i hope you will get a little more than
reports from us as we do have a fairly good knowledge between us about shore and boat fishing one of the reasons a lot of guys join us
as the sit gets bigger you may find more guys down where you are joining in or you could recruit for the forum if you pass the word around

hey ron thanks its good to be here i will let fishing freinds know about the site i did scoure the net and have a look at a few forums but this one seemed to be the most helpfull knowledgabul and the one with the speedy responces aswell s freindly and as i am a new angler its good to look thru the site and pick up hints and tips
