Isle of Wight Camping Meet

Post  Davey on Tue Jun 01, 2010 5:11 am

Ok guys had a couple of PM's.

FishingwithFrank has said he will be coming down for a week and is looking at being here for the weekend of September 23rd/24th.
And Jazzman sent me a link to Red funnel who are doing a package of 5nights camping fee's and return ferry for car and 4 people for £115.

Link here http://www.redfunnel.co.uk/places-to-stay/camping/

looking at the available sites Waverley Park is close to the ferry terminal, I also live close by and is local to shops etc. I don't know the other sites though Appuldurcombe Gardens, Orchards Holiday Park, are a little out of the way.

Think the best way forward is if you discuss it between you decide if the dates are ok then look at the link and decide on a campsite and if your sharing cars etc to come down, obviously the more in each car the cheaper it is.
Then you will have to book it.

If anyone needs anymore info please ask and Ill see what I can do.

If you definately are coming please add your name on this thread.

Davey

Good on you Davey for setting this up, i hope it goes well, i'll not be joining you this year but hope to in the future, C'mon everyone in the south, if some of the northern ones can get there i'm sure you can join in and meet some of the members, you have a far less journey, even if its just meeting up for a brew on the mainland before the ferry leaves Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy its a long journey down there for those that are going and a brew and a face to name meeting would be more than welcome to them Very Happy

thanks davey
The wife and i had plans to come down anyway but ive checked on the Waverley Park for sept that is the only month
that seems to be free this year but it looks the better camp than the others and as you say closer to the docks.

Im up for it if anyone else can get the time off.

i want some of what davey catches each time he goes out Laughing
if the cars can be filled up it could work out at approx £60.00 plus food thats only a guide and for five nights.

the alternative could be for davey to find us a basic camp a little cheaper and for just the w/end if that is better the
biggest cost is fuel i did the journey two months ago only down to exeter granted but it is possible to get there on a full tank
and a bit

Appledurcombes a good site, I,ve stayed there twice with my daughter. It has a good bar and decent outdoor swimming pool. 5 mins walk to the nearest Spar. I found it good to get out from to get to any part of the island without getting clogged up in the traffic round Cowes and Shanklin in high season. Also didn,t seem to get the noisy chavvy campers that you get at some of the bigger sites.
Also only 5 minutes walk from a good chiropractic surgery if you put your back out mistiming a big cast.
