Mouldy Jack week

Post  mikey on Sun May 30, 2010 9:14 am

Hi all, had my dad down for a week, he's now 86 and disabled but still loves to fish. He used to make all the leads for Blackburn beach casting club and thats where he got the name 'Mouldy Jack' Smile My brother got a small trophy and named it The Mouldy Jack Trophy, it was to be for the biggest fish of the week. The first day we fished the old harbour burry port, I had a schoolie, the next trip was low water at burry port this was a logistical nightmare getting my dad his wheelchair etc over half a mile of soft sand and gulleys Shocked but where there's a will Smile I had 4 doggies and a flounder, my dad and my brother had 4 flounders each not the bass we were hoping to catch Sad Next we had a trip to mumbles pier but fish were few and far between, I was the only one to catch with a small codling although a chap further down the pier had a 6lb Bass Mad The last session of the week Friday we decided to just fish local at Burry Port Harbour, conditions were good with a brisk westerley and nice sea running, we had a number of bites before my brother pulled in a 5lb Bass Very Happy I followed this with one about a pound, that was it, but a very enjoyable week was had by all Very Happy Dad went home with a Smile on his face as we gave him the Bass and also the trophy for his endeavour and guts in keeping going Very Happy Hope u like the pics. Mike

It looks like you had a good week pity about the fish but the nice bass must have made up for it...well done on getting that wheelchair on the beach it must have been difficult...you can't beat fishing with your dad my dad started me fishing 56 years ago at Whindy Harbour near Blackpool ...Just wish he was around to fish with me now....the good thing is they cant take away the memories...Frank
