Doggie mania

Post  mikey on Sun 9 May 2010 - 19:30

Hi, another low water session at Burry Port last night hoping for more Bass Very Happy There was a strong NE wind and quite cold so conditions not to promising! We had plenty soft crab and blow lug and did we need it Shocked we got bites right from the first cast unfortunately it was'nt the Bass biting but the bleeding dogfish one after the other the highlight of the night was a small codling for me and a slightly better one for my brother. Total catch was 15 doggies, 2 codling and 1 flounder with a bite a chuck until weed became a bit of problem, still an enjoyable nights fishing Very Happy

Hi guys, don't get me wrong catching a doggie as livened up many a boring session but sometimes they are in plague proportions and nothing else can get to the bait, but saying that I'd sooner catch a doggie than nothing at all! I did once try eating one but was not too keen although down south proper (london) they sell it in the chippies as 'rock'. mike

Ah the good 'ol rock salmon, very nice eating if you drain the blood out straight away ( gets rid of the ammonia ) there is a fresh fish shop up here that sells it at £3.50 a pound
