Its Called Roker Pier, boss, i remember it from my childhood as i grew up opposite it, its very very long ( little legs at the time ) with a lighthouse at the end, fish the right hand side as the left is filled with a petrified forest on the left pier ( free coal for the locals ) rig snagger for the far casters, there are two piers both pointing towards one another, on the right one fish to the left for the same reasons ( rightside is petrified forest as well ) so you are fishing into the bay ( SR6 0PL on google maps and the black stuff outside the piers is coal ).
Make sure you take your own worms ( best bait for over there ) as they are a quid each, frozen!! ( between £4.50 - £10 a pack of 10 ) impossible to get them off the beach, i send my uncle 20 a week, Codling and Pollock and Mackerel regulary caught by him ( depending on season of course )

she lets me keep them in the fridge then

Fish so far in 2010; 1 Codling, 2 Flounder, 5 Plaice, 1 Plaice/Flounder hybrid, 1 LSD, 2 EEL, 1 Whiting. and a lot of hope Smile

For no reason but the obvious, all hail the people who man the Boats of the RLNI, real heroes who never get paid

It should be warm enough in the area of Stranraer Frank. This particular peninsula is strongly influenced by the gulf stream creating a mini climate simlar to Anglesey. Good Plaice fishing from plenty of sheltered areas too. Sadly a lot of Dogfish too.

Never stayed in that particular spot. If you selected a venue further west, on the peninsula itself you gain the benefit that with the two bays near Stranraer, one facing north the other facing south, no matter which way the wind blows and no matter how strong, there is access to sheltered fishing within close range. There appears to be a good selection of sites.
